Validation Engineer – Mechanical Surrey, UK Up to £55,000 bonus benefits Note: Physical / mechanical product test and validation experience is required. This role would suit a creative test engineer / validation engineer that is able to develop test methods and procedures from product requirements, execute the tests, and gather and interpret test data as part of a product validation and verification process. Role: Working as part of a test and validation engineering team, the Product Validation Engineer role will support the development and testing of innovative electric motor systems for the automotive electric vehicle market. It is a “hands-on” role that involves developing mechanical product validation and test processes and procedures. Also, building and setting up test equipment, executing physical / mechanical tests, collating and analysing data and producing test reports. This in turn aids to support the ongoing development and improvement of the electric motor / powertrain products as well as test and validation processes. Experience / knowledge required: * Ideally a degree or similar in a relevant engineering or scientific subject (e.g. mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, physics etc) * At least 3-5 years of relevant industry experience as a test engineer, validation engineer or development engineer working on similar electromechanical products (e.g. electric motors, automotive powertrain / engines, transmissions / gearboxes, etc) * Proven experience of physical / mechanical test of products (environmental test, reliability testing, durability, accelerated life, destructive test, performance, water ingress, NVH – noise, vibration, harshness) * Experience of creating and developing test processes and procedures from product requirements * Able to collate, analyse and interpret test and validation data * Experience of working with customers and producing test / validation reports * Experience of using tools such as Labview, LabWindows, Python and / or Matlab. * Able to plan and manage test projects and plan to ensure efficient test and development cycles Others (useful experience): * Ability to supervise or mentor test technicians would be great * Experience with working with external test houses and certification bodies * Able to support the build, test and problem solving of test-rigs * Able to travel occasionally to customer sites or other company facilities (1-2 times per year) The ideal candidate would be an experience test engineer, development engineer or validation engineer that has worked specifically on electric motors (ideally for electric powertrain / electrified propulsion applications). Automotive industry experience would be great but other highly regulated industry experience would be considered (e.g. aerospace, medical devices, rail or perhaps industrial control / traction systems.) This product test / validation engineer role is commutable from Guildford, Farnham, Aldershot, Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Farnborough, London, Portsmouth and Petersfield.
