If you are passionate about making a difference, join our industry‑leading Energy team and help drive the change. We are currently seeking a Principal / Senior HV Plant Engineer for our Energy Team. This exciting opportunity involves a wide variety of projects across diverse technical disciplines with clients across the country, including HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works and connection schemes.
The role is to work as part of the HV team on electrical substation design projects. You will collaborate closely with other disciplines and support or lead FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new‑build projects. Ideally you have experience working with key T&D clients in the UK.
You will be joining a growing and collaborative team, working in partnership with a variety of clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to industry‑wide efficiency and environmental challenges.
Responsibilities
• Design, specification and production of HV substation plant electrical power systems and associated power system components.
• Provide technical leadership on FEED and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions and new‑build projects.
• Work with clients, consultants and internal disciplines to deliver high‑quality design outputs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers and support the wider energy team in achieving project objectives.
About You
You will ideally have a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, with experience as an HV substation / primary plant design engineer. You should possess overall experience in design and specification production for HV substation plant electrical power systems and associated power system components. Knowledge of P&C aspects is preferable.
You will be a pro‑active individual with a deep understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry. You will be able to coach and work within the wider energy team, engage in the engineering community, and drive success for our clients through innovative solutions and industry‑best practices.
