THE ROLE
As Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and growing an existing portfolio of accounts whilst actively prospecting for new business across the West Midlands territory. Working closely with internal technical and applications teams, you will act as a trusted technical advisor to customers—understanding their requirements and recommending the right hydraulic or fluid power solutions.
* Manage, retain, and grow a defined territory of accounts across the West Midlands
* Identify and convert new business opportunities through proactive outreach and customer visits
* Provide technical guidance on hydraulic systems, components, and fluid power solutions
* Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and technical specifications to customers
* Build strong, lasting relationships with key decision-makers and procurement contacts
* Collaborate with internal engineering and applications teams to deliver bespoke solutions
* Track sales activity, pipeline, and forecasting using internal CRM systems
* Attend industry events, exhibitions, and training to maintain product knowledge
* Achieve and exceed agreed revenue and margin targets
ABOUT YOU
* Demonstrable field sales experience within the hydraulics sector
* Alternatively, strong sales experience within a closely related fluid power discipline (pneumatics, process, industrial fluid handling)
* Solid technical understanding of hydraulic components and systems (pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, power units)
* Proven ability to develop new business alongside managing existing accounts
* Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a consultative approach to sales
