About the role:
A specialist secondary provision in Gainsborough supporting students with SEMH needs. The school focuses on delivering core subjects alongside essential independent life‑skills development. This position will begin after Easter, with the intention of continuing into the new academic year on a full‑time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work alongside teaching staff to deliver differentiated lessons, breaking down tasks, scaffolding learning and reinforcing key concepts so that students with SEMH needs can access and meaningfully engage with the curriculum.
* Use Trauma‑Informed Strategies and apply trauma‑informed approaches throughout the school day, embedding routines.
* Introduce hands‑on activities to help promote focus, participation, and a sense of safety for learners.
* Promote Positive Behaviour & Emotional Regulation to encourage constructive learning behaviours by modelling regulation strategies.
* Offer in‑the‑moment emotional support, and using restorative approaches to re‑engage and redirect students when needed.
Pre‑requisites:
* Previous experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring or delivering structured learning to children or young people within schools, PRUs, alternative provisions, tutoring environments or informal education settings.
* A clear understanding of how SEMH needs affect engagement, behaviour and learning, alongside the ability to respond calmly using trauma‑informed, supportive approaches.
* Knowledge of varied teaching and engagement strategies, including how to break down
* Qualifications such as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, Youth Work qualification, or equivalent experience within SEND/SEMH environments.
