Head of Water / Regional Water Engineering Lead – South East England
Permanent or Outside IR35 | Salary Guide: £80,000+ (DOE)
Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering design consultancy, is establishing a new satellite office in the South East and is seeking an experienced Head of Water / Regional Water Engineering Lead to build, lead, and grow a high-performing multidisciplinary water design team.
This is a senior leadership opportunity, suitable for candidates seeking either a permanent role or an Outside IR35 contract, offering genuine influence over team structure, culture, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and develop a South East water design office
* Build, lead, and grow a multidisciplinary design team
* Identify, attract, and retain high-calibre engineering and management talent
* Mentor and develop team members, fostering a positive and collaborative culture
* Plan and scale the team in line with strategic business objectives
* Ensure all design deliverables meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
* Drive integrated, compliant, and timely design outputs
* Promote best practice, appropriate software tools, and effective design processes
* Manage design change control and maintain accurate project documentation
Required Qualifications & Experience
* 10+ years' experience within a regulated engineering environment
* Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex projects
* Degree or HND in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working towards chartership
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
* Strong IT and digital design capability
Preferred / Desirable
* Significant experience within the regulated water sector
* Experience establishing or growing new teams or satellite offices
