Responsibilities
* Under the supervision of senior colleagues, assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care.
* Act as an associate mentor to student nurses in training and mentor once Mentorship in Practice is completed.
* Facilitate the professional and clinical development of paediatric practice through the application of research.
* Provide clinical support to the infants, children, and young people in the Emergency Department.
* Communicate issues relating to a child’s care in a manner that is appropriate and understandable to both the child and their family.
* Ensure that patient documentation is accurate, legible, and compliant with legal requirements.
* Assess a child’s individual needs, recognise a sick child, and initiate urgent action when necessary.
* Support senior colleagues with the introduction and implementation of new ideas and methods of nursing care.
Qualifications and Requirements
• You must be an NMC registered Children’s Nurse to apply.
• Over proof of a Children’s Emergency Care placement or recent/current experience is required.
• A passion for children’s emergency care, proven communication and assessment skills, enthusiasm, and flexibility are essential.
• We offer training in Manchester triage, venepuncture, cannulation, and plaster of paris application; those wishing to progress can apply for APLS/EPLS certification.
