Job summary
Alexandra Hospital is looking to recruit a band 7 Senior sister/Charge Nurse into the team to provide 24 hour, 7 day cover to ensure senior support to our EDteam.
The successful candidate will join the current band 7 team and will assist withthe senior support and direction for Emergency Department. This additionalposts will allow us to continue to improve our performance in relation to localand national guidance, as well as supporting quality improvement within the EDfor both patients and staff.
As detailed within the personal specification the applicant should hold atleast 5 years A&E experience with 2 years as band 6 management experience.
The post holder will be expected to provide nursing care andexpert clinical nursing to people attending the Emergency Department and acrossother specialties as required. As well identify, implement and manage changeeffectively within ED to promote improved patient careand practice. They will also provideco-ordinator support, ensuring smooth patient flow through the department andworking with our stakeholder.
The Senior Sister will act as a role model andbe responsible for the development and management of the multidisciplinaryteam. They will act as advocate for the ED and liaise with all members of themulti-disciplinary team to co-ordinate all aspects of patient care in the bestinterests of the patient and family.
Main duties of the job
* To ensure a high standard of nursing care at all times through theeffective management of staff and resources on his/her allocated Ward.Providing effective leadership and to act as a good role model.
* To act as advocate for their designated area and liaise with allmembers of the multi-disciplinary team to co-ordinate all aspects of patientcare in the best interests of the patient and family.
* To participate in a rota, with the other Band 7 Sisters, toprovide cover for the Alexandra Hospital to ensure a suitablyexperienced nurse is available at all times to provide clinical expertise andprofessional advice.
To ensure effective training and educational programmes areavailable by liaising with appropriate personnel to meet the training andeducational needs of nurses in the clinical area.
Thispost carries continuing responsibility for the management of the ED,including the deployment and supervision of staff.
