Actemium Automation Hampshire is seeking an experienced and solutions-focused Senior Software Controls Engineer to join our innovative and inclusive team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to take ownership of designing, developing, and delivering software and control systems for cutting-edge industrial automation projects across regulated sectors, including water, energy, and process industries.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design, development, and commissioning of industrial control systems, including PLC, SCADA, and HMI software.
* Analyse customer requirements, prepare functional design specifications, and develop detailed technical documentation.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, driving continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing.
* Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT), ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of automation projects.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and liaise directly with customers to ensure timely project delivery and high-quality solutions.
* Engage in system integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to resolve complex technical challenges.
* Ensure all software solutions comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and Actemium best practices.
What You Bring: Senior Automation Engineer Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in designing and delivering PLC/SCADA software for industrial automation projects (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider or similar platforms).
* Excellent understanding of control philosophy, instrumentation, and systems integration.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
* Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience within engineering teams.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and with customers.
* HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience in engineering, software, or a related discipline.
* Previous experience delivering automation solutions in regulated sectors (e.g., water, energy, process industries) desirable but not essential.
