Role purpose
ISG's Retail division has won several projects going into 2024 and they are need of a Senior Surveyor to join their team out of Bristol. Projects ranging from £900k to over £30m you can expect to work on projects from car showroom remodels, office fitouts, shopping centre remodels and Warehouse & distribution fit outs, it is face to say you will not be bored and have exposes to an array of projects.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects in the Bristol area. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of our projects within budget and to the highest standards of quality.
Key accountabilities
1. Develop and maintain close relationships with customers, consultants and subcontractors to continuously improve the customer experience and support future repeat and negotiated business
2. Attend tender presentations for new projects, contribute, lead commercially and present
3. During proposal stage, prepare the budget and prelims build up, obtain and vet trade contractor bids, compile the ISG company information section for the proposal document and collate the overall document
4. Develop an initial concept budget and prepare a detailed cost plan for the Project Manager to agree with the client
5. Prepare trade contractor bid list in conjunction with the Project Manager and obtain approval via team meetings
6. Confirm project insurance arrangements
7. Prepare and monitor bid package tender schedule and report against the cost plan where required
8. Advise client on contract procurement routes available
9. Agree 2nd stage lump sum tenders and GMP's
10. Prepare and monitor Subcontract Procurement Schedule, compile trade contract bid documents and carry out tender analysis and issue purchase orders
11. Place orders and instruct trade contractors. (Including compiling subcontracts/works contacts/trade contracts)
12. Advise on product selection, specifications and assist with the value engineering
13. Advise on the selection of trade contractors
14. Prepare financial section of project report
15. Handle receipt and distribution of drawings and other relevant information and maintain control
16. Attend design team meetings and trade contractor meetings
17. Manage change orders in conjunction with the Site/Project Manager
18. Prepare, submit and agree monthly costs reports, collating information from other Project/Assistant surveyors as necessary
19. Instruct accounts to invoice clients
20. Instruct accounts to pay subcontracts and suppliers
21. Prepare, submit and agree periodic valuations for work completed to date with trade contractors and the client
22. Instruct accounts to invoice clients and to pay subcontractors and suppliers
23. Prepare 'rolling' final account throughout project and agree at PC
24. Close out financial account and retention releases
25. Prepare final account reconciliation (CVR), create regular budget and price updates, update computerised cost control system and prepare the monthly cost and progress report for ISG Directors responsible
26. Provide feedback to trade contractors on completion
27. Prepare monthly cost reports including any relevant information provided by Project/Assistant surveyors
28. Internal reporting via billing monitors, MCR's and interim CVR's
29. To ensure our HSQE and quality standards, operating processes, company policies, ISO accreditations and all legislative requirements are understood, implemented and adhered to at all times.
Skills & experience
30. Retail and fitout experience desired
31. Substantial experience in a surveying role
32. Good Understanding of JCT forms of contract & Contract law
33. Good knowledge and understanding of Word and Excel packages
34. Good verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
35. Degree qualified or NVQ, Btec or Higher National equivalent
