The Role
We are looking for a commercially driven and technically proficient Head of Commercials, who will form part of the overall Senior Management Team, to lead and support business growth. This role requires a unique blend of commercial acumen, engineering insight and IT/AI expertise to drive strategic initiatives, manage contracts and unlock value from emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Execution
* Develop and implement commercial strategies that align with Business Unit and technology roadmap.
* Support Business Units in pursuing new business opportunities, including AI-driven solutions and engineering services.
* Support Business Units in pricing, tendering and contract negotiations for engineering and technology projects.
Project & Financial Oversight
* Delivery of budgets, forecasts and financial performance across Business Units and IT/AI projects.
* Ensure cost control, profitability and value deliver throughout project lifecycles.
* Maintain oversight of systems used, including contract terms and renewal dates, to prevent service or cost issues.
* Support bid development and proposal writing for complex engineering and digital transformation projects.
Technical Collaboration & Innovation
* Work closely with engineering and IT teams to translate technical capabilities into commercial offerings.
* Evaluate and support the integration of AI.
* Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies and competitive landscape.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and strategic partners.
* Present solutions and commercial proposals to internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure customer satisfaction and long-term value creation.
Risk & Compliance Management
* Oversee contract compliance, risk mitigation and regulatory adherence.
* Ensure commercial activities align with industry standards and company policies.
* Ensure adherence to company Health & Safety policies.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience in Commercial Management within an Engineering or Technology focused company.
Experience with contract law, procurement and financial modelling.
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or another related field.
Ability to manage cross functional teams and complex stakeholder environments.
Strong understanding of IT systems, AI technologies, and their application in Engineering environments.
Excellent negotiation, communication and leadership skills.
