Construction Associate / Senior Associate - Reading - Legal 100 Firm
Our client is a leading Legal 100 firm with an outstanding reputation in Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure matters.
Due to growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Construction Associate (or Senior Associate) to join their Chambers-rated team in Reading and work on a broad range of primarily non-contentious matters.

The team’s client base is impressive, providing exposure to high-value, complex disputes and projects across sectors such as logistics, education, and automotive manufacturing, including work for main contractors and sub-contractors.
On the non-contentious side, candidates should have experience in leading and advising on transactions, drafting and negotiating construction contracts and ancillary agreements, and providing ongoing project advice.
* The team acts for employers (corporates and high net worth individuals), construction professionals, contractors, and sub-contractors, offering a diverse range of quality work.

* The ideal candidate will have an interest in and understanding of the construction and engineering sectors and will be supported in developing their practice and network.
* Strong interpersonal skills, good academics, and high-quality experience (preferably from a major City or leading national/regional practice) are essential.
Knowledge of JCT form contracts, amendments, and market norms would be beneficial.
The team advises on bespoke and complex agreements, procurement strategies, funding and financing, contract tendering, frameworks, and security documentation, including bonds.
Clients may include large developers, construction companies, or corporate owner/occupiers. The team also defends claims against construction entities, including Lloyds market insurers.
* There are opportunities to manage adjudications and court disputes with autonomy (with support).
* Some non-contentious work, such as drafting and negotiating construction documents, may be available.
* Assist with real estate transactions involving construction aspects, including obligations, warranties, and copyright issues.
* Take responsibility for cases, develop client relationships, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
* Analyze information carefully, make sound decisions, and react to commercial drivers.
* Recognize issues early, adapt as needed, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
