ZELP is an agricultural technology company committed to creating a sustainable future for agriculture - one that meets the needs of present and future generations, promoting human and environmental health, animal welfare, and social and economic equity.
Our first focus is to develop and scale technology that measures and mitigates methane emissions in the livestock industry. Today, 1.3 billion people rely on the industry for their livelihoods and food security. However, it is the single biggest human-driven source of methane emissions globally, emitting more than both the oil & gas industry and the coal industry.
The deployment of our technologies on a global scale has the potential to drive half the global methane reduction needed by 2030, and to greatly transform the beef and dairy industries.
ZELP was an inaugural winner of the Terra Carta Design Lab, and has received funding and support from the European Commission, Innovate UK, The Global Methane Hub and the Gates Foundation.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive team as a strategic partner to the CEO. This role is designed for a highly capable leader who can translate vision into execution, ensuring that company strategies are realised through disciplined operational management and cross-functional alignment.
The ideal candidate will be an integrator—someone who can bring clarity, accountability, and efficiency to a fast-moving, evolving organization. This person will have a key role leading the manufacturing and supply chain functions, while overseeing and driving operational performance across commercial, engineering, and other business functions. This doer, and strategist will be comfortable toggling between the board room and the production floor.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and execute a roadmap for operational scale that aligns with company goals and investor expectations.
* Partner closely with the CEO to shape and implement long-term strategies and ensure they translate into effective action.
* Create a performance-driven culture with strong operational discipline and accountability.
* Establish and track key operational metrics, and report performance to the CEO and Board.
* Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and adjust operational tactics in response to internal and external changes.
* Identify and resolve bottlenecks to growth, scalability, and execution.
* Drive excellence in procurement, production, distribution, and quality assurance with clear KPIs and continuous improvement practices
* Lead the pivotal transition from prototype production to high-volume manufacturing, responsibilities to include:
* Build, implement, and optimize production systems, facilities, and global supply chain infrastructure.
* Define and implement robust quality management systems (QMS) to ensure consistent product performance and compliance.
* Establish manufacturing and assembly processes in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, environmental and safety regulations).
* Ensure product certification and regulatory compliance across target markets (e.g., CE marking, battery and radio standards), and establish clear processes for managing certification requirements based on country-specific regulations
Required Qualification
* Demonstrable experience (10+ years) as a COO, General Manager, or equivalent executive operations role, ideally within hardware-focused start-ups or agriculture/climate tech industries.
* Track record of operational excellence in scaling organizations and driving strategic execution at regional levels.
* Strong understanding of business functions, including commercial, engineering, and administrative operation.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with the gravitas to influence at all levels
* Experience managing outsourced and in-house manufacturing models.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA or advanced technical degree a plus).

* Competitive compensation package with share options.
