Main duties of the job
* We are looking for a band 6 Clinical Sister/Charge nurse to join the Felix Holt leadership team
* Felix Holt is a 19 bedded stroke rehabilitation unit based at the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton and works closely with Feldon Ward at Leamington Hospital. It is part of the Stroke Patient Pathway.
* We provide specialist rehabilitation to those patients from Coventry and Warwickshire who require more intensive support after the early acute phase of their stroke and are medically not ready to return to their home setting.
* Within the unit patients will be under the care of the Stroke Consultant and will receive specialist assessment and treatment from ward‑based nurses and therapists based on their specific clinical needs. The team includes Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Dieticians and Clinical Psychologists.
* Rehabilitation as an impatient will continue while there remain nursing and medical needs that cannot be provided at home.

Job responsibilities
* Responsibilities include leading the nursing team clinically and providing direction.
* Conducting comprehensive, systematic, and precise nursing assessments of patients as needed.

* Executing treatments, investigations, diagnostics, and referrals according to patient care plans.
* Practicing in accordance with NMC guidelines and trust policies, recognising personal strengths and weaknesses.
* Fostering positive relationships within the nursing teams and offering appropriate advice and support.
* Instructing, mentoring, and supervising students and junior staff to ensure competence.
* Promptly responding to deteriorating patients and supporting junior staff in such situations.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of working as a band 6 within an acute specialism or band 5 with experience working in acute settings
* Experience of supervising junior staff
* Managerial experience
* Experience in managing and delivering sustained change
* Understanding of clinical governance
* Audit and research/Evidence base practice
Qualification(s) and Professional Training
* Qualified Nurse - on current NMC registered
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* History taking and assessment
Skills and Abilities
* Teaching and presentation skills
* Competent holistic patient assessment
* Intravenous administration
* Venepuncture, Cannulation, CVC access
* Ability to write reports
* Experience of clinical supervision
Personal Qualities
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to communicate at senior nurse level to both internal and external agencies
* Motivated and enthusiastic

* Valid driving licence
