About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a thriving and reputable academy in the Wakefield area. The post is a full-time, long-term maternity cover position, commencing as soon as possible, offering you a substantial role within a high-achieving Design and Technology department. The position requires a skilled and enthusiastic professional to plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a specialist food room, ensuring all health and safety regulations are rigorously followed. This is a crucial cover role that demands excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management, and a commitment to maintaining continuity in student learning and progress.

Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Strong knowledge of current Food Technology curriculum and assessment requirements.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver creative and rigorous Food Technology lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
* Manage classroom behaviour effectively to ensure a positive and focused learning environment.
* Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene within the food preparation areas.
* Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Food Technology curriculum materials.
* Set and mark homework and internal assessments in line with school policy.
* Provide engaging and accurate practical demonstrations of cooking and preparation techniques.
* Attend departmental meetings and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives.
* Liaise with parents/guardians regarding student progress and welfare when required.
* Organise and manage resources, ingredients, and equipment effectively within budget.
