If you love being a vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” and “I want to work nights”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for!
You’ve probably seen some of our 125 vehicles driving East London and Central London.
Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!
You’ll have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses which we operate across London. Our buses include modern double deckers and single deckers as well as some new Electric buses which are now in service with us.
Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.
And it’s not all garage-based work. You could find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at!
Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there’s plenty more we can offer:
* Job security – we’ve been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn and we’re not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon!
* Free travel – for you and a household member on TfL bus and rail services (this is a non-contractual benefit). That means on your days off (of which there are plenty!) you can be off shopping without worrying about parking the car, or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in fuel!
* A great regular income and great benefits – up to £31.33 per hour, based on experience, plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you’ve hung up the spanner!
* Promotions – if you’re happy sticking as a Technician, that’s fine, but if you want to progress, we’ll support you every step of the way. You’ll gain exposure to work that develops your skills and experience to further your career. Many of our Stagecoach London Engineering Managers started as Technicians – that could be you someday!
You don’t need to come from a bus background, but you should have experience working in an engineering technician field involving large vehicles—trucks, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm. If it is large and moves, it’s good experience for working on buses!
