Job Advert Deadline for applications: 12 noon, 31st May 2026 Reports to: Head of Philanthropy Location: The Glasshouse International Centre for Music Working hours: Flexible 4 or 5 days Salary: SCP 35, £36,679 per annum (full time) About The Glasshouse International Centre for Music We’re a place where you can hear rock legends or pop icons on the same night as folk trios or opera singers. Where new musicians are nurtured and showcased on the same stages as platinum- selling performers. And where youth choirs and tambourine- shaking toddlers practice in the same spaces as our acclaimed orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia. Whether you’re front of house, waiting in the wings or keeping things running behind the scenes you will be part of a team that means 2 million people enjoy top – notch gigs, concerts and classes in our own venue at Gateshead Quays, out in communities across the North East and through live- streamed performances and digital lessons. About you Are you self-motivated, happy working in a team environment and flexible enough to adapt to a changing environment? If this sounds like you, read on to find out how you can hit the ground running. About Individual Giving Manager This role sits within our ambitious Fundraising Team, working towards a multi-million-pound annual target, with major gifts from high-net-worth individuals forming a cornerstone of our future growth. We’re looking for someone with genuine strength in securing significant five- and six-figure philanthropic gifts. Someone who brings fresh thinking, creative energy and a sharp strategic mind; someone comfortable generating new ideas, testing approaches and spotting opportunities for growth. Flexibility is key, including occasional evening and weekend work for donor events and key moments in the calendar. Enthusiasm for music – ideally including classical and orchestral performance – is essential, enabling you to connect confidently with our artistic work and donor community. You’ll lead the development and delivery of one clear, joined-up Individual Giving programme at The Glasshouse, shaping one thoughtful, coherent donor journey that supports every giving pathway, from first gift through to major support and legacies. Working within the overall strategy set by the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll turn organisational priorities into clear, practical plans – aligning campaigns, membership activity and donor engagement so that every interaction feels intentional, connected and purposeful. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Marketing, Programme, Finance and Communications to keep things aligned at every touchpoint. What you’ll drive * Strategic income growth: Develop and deliver multi-channel individual giving strategies (digital, direct mail and face-to-face), with clear planning, creative execution and clear accountability against income targets. * One joined-up donor journey: Shape and manage a coherent, creative, data-led journey that guides supporters from first engagement through to long-term stewardship, ensuring a consistent experience across all giving streams. * Stewardship and cultivation: Build and nurture deep, trust-based relationships with mid-level, major and high-net-worth supporters, including proactively identifying prospects, developing tailored cultivation plans and securing significant gifts. Create thoughtful stewardship opportunities, including events and tailored communications. * Legacy giving: Lead the development and promotion of our legacy and in-memoriam giving work. * Storytelling and engagement: Help shape compelling cases for support and fundraising narratives that feel clear, relevant and distinctive, grounded in the real impact of our work. Work closely with Marketing, Communications and Social Media teams to ensure individual giving is visible, consistent and powerfully expressed across digital channels, campaigns and content. * Data, Gift Aid and compliance: Use Tessitura for reporting, insight and segmentation, ensuring GDPR compliance at all times. Oversee accurate Gift Aid processing and maximise claims. Work with finance colleagues to support VAT-compliant fundraising activity and membership structures. * Leadership and collaboration: Manage and support two direct reports. Work closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Programme, Finance, and the Leadership Team to embed a joined-up delivery and a confident, sustainable culture of philanthropy. * Oversight and performance: Hold strategic and operational oversight of Memberships, mid-level giving and high-net-worth programmes, including responsibility for growing and managing a robust major donor pipeline. Monitor performance, identifying risks and reporting progress to senior colleagues. What we’re looking for * Substantial recent experience in individual giving, with a clear track record of growing income and developing sustainable supporter pipelines. * Significant experience designing and delivering joined‑up donor journeys, with a strong track record of securing and stewarding substantial philanthropic gifts, leading successful campaigns, and building relationships with mid‑level, major and high‑net‑worth supporters. * Up-to-date knowledge of the current fundraising landscape, including evolving donor expectations, digital engagement and data-led decision making. Evidence of ongoing professional development, sector engagement or peer exchange is important. * The judgement and leadership skills to support and motivate others, and to contribute confidently at a senior level. * Proven success securing, negotiating and managing five- and six-figure gifts. * Experience using insight and reporting to refine campaigns and improve performance across digital and offline channels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive and tailored proposals and reports. * Financial confidence in managing budgets, analysing performance and shaping strategic decisions. * A creative and collaborative approach, with the relationship-building skills to work effectively across teams and with a wide range of supporters. * A strong understanding of stewardship and donor cultivation, including thoughtful event-based engagement and long-term donor care. * Energy, imagination and the confidence to test new ideas - bringing fresh thinking to how music-led individual giving can evolve and thrive.
