Job Description
Job Purpose: As Bid Manager, you will primarily work as part of a tendering team focusing on strategic and complex High Voltage Major Projects in the non-regulated Power Sector. The role involves managing tenders of a complex nature within a high-performing technical team based in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
You will be part of the Business Development Tendering Team, reporting to the Sales Director responsible for Major Projects. Your responsibilities include collaborating with the business development team, contributing to growth plans through compelling tender submissions, and developing tendering strategies aligned with customer account plans and sales activities.
You will also develop and manage processes related to tender management from start to finish, ensuring stakeholder engagement, quality, and compliance. The role requires the ability to storyboard, script original material, and present clear, compelling final submissions.
We prefer candidates with an LV/HV background, strong project management skills, and the ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Work with key stakeholders to develop and execute business growth strategies through compelling submissions.
2. Undertake customer research to identify new trends and opportunities, supporting the CRM & Opportunity Pipeline.
3. Develop new customer relationships supporting tender requirements.
4. Develop and deliver end-to-end pre-qualification and tendering events.
5. Own tender storyboarding, submission quality control, governance sign-off processes, and procedures.
6. Manage the submission content library and continuous improvement processes.
7. Lead and support tender submissions, liaising with stakeholders to deliver high-quality proposals.
8. Manage tender activity milestones and KPIs aligned with business growth targets.
9. Produce monthly tender activity plans and reports for stakeholders and the board.
Qualifications & Professional Memberships: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline; APMP membership is advantageous.
Knowledge & Experience: Demonstrable experience in business development tendering within a fast-paced, matrix environment; strong knowledge of customer tendering principles; experience with procurement processes and online portals; skilled in creating compelling tender documents and presentations; successful track record in business development within the UK utilities sector, especially LV/HV power, with desirable experience in digitalisation and data sectors.
