Staff Nurse - Major Trauma Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Aintree to support the Major Trauma Ward as a band 5 staff nurse.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in managing patients with acute/complex injuries; candidates with experience in acute surgical settings are also welcome.
Applicants must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and be prepared to work in a flexible environment.
Your role will involve adopting a strategic approach to inpatient care, supporting ward colleagues, and providing comprehensive nursing services to inpatients through clinical practice within a multidisciplinary team.
The ideal candidate will be capable of caring for polytrauma patients and work within the Merseyside and Cheshire major trauma network.
You will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care, working as part of the multidisciplinary team, and undertaking delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse.
Following successful completion of foundation gateway, you will be required to take charge of the ward/department for a duty shift.
You will always work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
* Diploma in Nursing
* Mentorship/teaching qualification (desirable)
* Post-registration qualification in relevant specialty (desirable)
Experience
* Post-registration experience and successful completion of Band 5 foundation gateway competencies
* Experience in relevant clinical settings
* Experience supporting students and maintaining a clinical learning environment
* Recent acute hospital experience (including as a student nurse)
Knowledge
* Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance
* Awareness of own limitations
Skills
* Ability to organize workload and delegate tasks appropriately
* Teamworking skills and ability to support less experienced staff
* Problem-solving skills
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)
* Basic IT skills (email, word processing)
