AECOM Birmingham, United Kingdom. Join as a Project Manager / Project Director, Water to work on a diverse portfolio of water programs and projects in the UK. This role is based in one of several office locations (Basingstoke, Croydon, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, St Albans, Exeter, Bristol, or Cardiff) with a flexible hybrid working model. You will contribute to projects for major water clients, including Wessex Water, Welsh Water, South West Water, Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, and Tier 1 Contractors.

You’ll take the lead on various aspects of multiple small to medium sized water utility projects, covering wastewater and potable water schemes, primarily within long-term client frameworks. There are part-time opportunities for additional team leadership responsibilities alongside this role for the right applicants.
Responsibilities – Project Manager
* Lead and manage projects with full accountability for successful delivery, including budget and schedule.
* Oversee project contracts, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeframes.
* Handle change management by documenting early warnings, preparing variations, and negotiating and implementing changes with clients.
* Develop and maintain project timelines, identify risks, dependencies, and required resources.
* Assess and mitigate project risks and opportunities to ensure successful outcomes.
* Manage contracts under various forms, such as NEC.
* Ensure quality management processes are followed for all project activities and outputs.
* Engage with stakeholders, managing their interests and influence to achieve project goals.
* Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams across the business.
* Oversee subcontractor and supply chain performance to meet project requirements.
* Build strong relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
* Lead bid management for design tenders on standalone projects and framework contracts.
Responsibilities – Project Director
* Oversee the work of one or more Project Managers and provide support as required into their tasks.
* Provide input and support on continuous improvement to project delivery procedures.
* Drive consistent Project Manager practices and procedures in alignment with AECOM PM requirements and the Project Delivery System (PDS).
* Depending on regional/project requirements you may also project manage more complex projects in addition to the above.
Qualifications
* Experience in delivering water and wastewater/treatment projects.
* Strong commercial, risk management and contractual skills and experience (e.g., NEC4).
* A degree or equivalent in a related engineering subject, and/or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer Status (or working towards) or APM registration.
