The Role
As a Lead Medial Secretary, you will supervise an administrative team of secretaries and administrative clerks to provide a comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently and ensuring the work of the administrative team is carried out in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire’s standard operating procedures.

What we'll need you to bring
1. SVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus at least 2 years experience as a medical secretary
2. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
3. Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
4. Evidence of good communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
5. Advanced audio typing skills
6. Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems
7. Excellent organisational skills
8. Proven ability to work under pressure
9. Knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Trakcare and Winscribe is essential.
10. Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
11. Relevant NHS experience as a medical secretary or Band 3 or 4 administration
12. Inpatient and outpatient scheduling experience
13. Knowledge of waiting times and treatment times guarantees
14. Working knowledge of Opera theatre systems
15. Milan reports

This role will be based in Specialist Palliative Care Services within Blantyre Health Centre.
