Overview
Join a national leader in fluid maintenance and pump solution services, supporting a high-performing sales team delivering projects to construction, industrial, utility, and commercial sectors. The Estimator is responsible for preparing precise quotations and full cost breakdowns on projects identified and secured by the Business Development Managers.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for mechanical and electrical pump service/maintenance solutions, in line with client requirements and technical specifications.
* Analyse enquiry documentation, blueprints, and relevant information to produce accurate costings.
* Liaise closely with Business Development Managers and technical teams to clarify scope, ensure quotations meet customer needs, and optimise commercial outcomes.
* Research material, equipment, and labour costs across the commercial, construction, utility, and industrial markets.
* Gather competitive prices from suppliers and subcontractors and assess associated risks.
* Develop and maintain rate databases for labour, plant, and materials to support consistent, high-quality estimating standards.
* Prepare and submit timely, professional quotations and tender responses.
* Monitor and track ongoing quotations, clarifying technical and commercial questions with internal and external stakeholders.
* Assist with bid submissions, handover documents, and ensure a smooth transition of work to operations following contract award.
* Stay up to date with market trends, industry regulations, and costing techniques.
Ideal Experience & Skills
* Strong technical knowledge of pumps, mechanical seals, valves, filters, water treatment, or related engineering solutions.
* Proven estimating experience within construction, maintenance, utilities, or industrial project environments.
* Proficient in tendering and quotation processes; able to interpret technical documentation accurately.
* Highly numerate, detail-oriented, and organised; capable of working to deadlines under pressure.
* First-class communication and relationship-building skills, confident engaging with suppliers and internal teams.
* Advanced Excel and IT proficiency; estimating software experience advantageous.
* Relevant engineering or technical qualifications preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Manufacturing).
* UK driving licence and willingness to visit supplier, client, or site locations as needed.
