Job Purpose
To ensure the asset information systems for both infrastructure, and non-infrastructure assets, operate correctly to support the effective management of the company’s asset data. The role is integral to ensuring our asset information is accurate, complete and available, enabling informed decision making, alongside safe and effective operation and maintenance.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Responsible for all non-infrastructure asset data within SAP. This includes governance, quality rules and the ARDR processes.
* Responsible for all infrastructure asset data within Geographical Information System (GIS). This includes governance, quality rules and GIS processes.
* Responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of the asset information strategy and plan. This includes leading the asset information teams with purpose, delivering excellent customer service and working within the business areas to educate and improve asset information workflows.
* Carry out an active role within data governance, ensuring that data stewards are in place and are working to agreed requirements.
* Responsible for the development and maintenance of the company’s Asset Lifecycle Information Management system (ALIM), currently AssetWise, and GIS.
* Create processes and measures to ensure completeness and quality standards are met for all incoming work streams.
* Define, implement and communicate the standardised information taxonomy, data structures, transfer of information, governance, system updates and end user training to relevant business areas.
* Responsible for the asset information exchange process from asset lifecycle systems to ensure the transfer of data from capital projects into operations.
* Carry out an active role in infrastructure data governance ensuring that data stewards are in place and are working to agreed requirements.
* Responsible for ensuring all asset information guidance materials and specifications are updated appropriately.
* Responsible for the financial performance of the team to ensure resources and budgets are managed.
* Work with the application support team to ensure acceptable application performance and prioritise functionality updates.
* Understand developments in the marketplace and contribute to the asset information strategy.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Good leadership skills, with an ability to build and manage effective teams.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships at all levels within the organisation
* A strong understanding of water and wastewater assets, processes, networks, utility maintenance and connections processes and the associated requirements for data from both an operational and legal standpoint.
* A commitment to quality approach and delivery of service within service level agreements (SLA).
* Customer focused and can effectively build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to demonstrate negotiation, influencing and persuasive communication at multiple levels across UU and with external organisations.
* A good level of technical knowledge of information systems and technologies, in particular: SAP, Asset Registration / De-Registration, AssetWise, GIS and ALIM systems, and the ability to innovate to create and deliver new services.
* Good awareness and experience of the asset life cycle, and the importance of having an up-to-date and accurate register of assets.
* Understanding of UU Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and internal company policies.
* Experience of financial planning, budgeting, and resourcing.
* Take accountability and ownership when managing fluctuating workloads to ensure targets are met.
* Commercial awareness in relation to the services used for delivering ALIM / GIS activities (desirable).
