They work under the direct supervision of a Provider, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant. Responsibilities
Primary:
* Perform all responsibilities of the Patient Care Specialist as outlined in the job description.
* Maintain friendly, professional relations with all employees and build confidence and credibility.
* Provide clinical and administrative support, adhering to company policies and procedures.
* Uphold the company's Core Values: teamwork, communication, empowerment, quality of care, and friendliness.
* Ensure activities comply with department expectations and legal regulations, including HIPAA and other health information management standards.
* Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
* Triaging patients by checking vitals, performing blood draws, injections, etc.
* Observe patients, chart and report changes in conditions, and take necessary actions.
* Assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
* Support providers in preparing for minor procedures and physicals.
* Maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
* Assist patients using Virtual Medicine Providers.
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient charts and forward as needed.
* Coordinate referrals and obtain pre-authorizations as directed.
* Maintain positive relationships with clients and staff, fostering a respectful and friendly work environment.
* Perform federal and non-federal DOT, BAT, and Drug Screen exams.
* Meet physical, sensory, cognitive, and environmental demands of the role.
* Adhere to operational standards and promote confidentiality.
* Complete mandatory compliance training.
* Maintain cleanliness of the office and support a professional environment.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Secondary:
* Assist with clerical tasks such as patient check-in, recording demographic and insurance information.
* Verify insurance eligibility and explain payment and billing policies.
* Answer phones, take messages, and respond to voicemails professionally.
Supporting Telehealth:
* Prepare patient charts via virtual communication methods such as phone or video conferencing.
* Assist with follow-ups, including pharmacy requests, paperwork, scheduling, and clinical calls.
Additional Requirements:
Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent, current CPR license, and at least 1 year of experience as a certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic in a clinical setting, preferably urgent care.
Level 2: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license, and either (1) 4 years’ relevant experience and 2 years in a Fast Pace role or (2) 6 years’ relevant experience.
Level 3: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license, and either (1) 6 years’ relevant experience and 2 years in a Fast Pace role or (2) 8 years’ relevant experience.
Level 4: Same as Level 3 with additional experience requirements.
Additional responsibilities include administrative duties such as scheduling, ordering, and training. CPR certification must be active within 7 days of hire.
Experience and Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent; at least 1 year of relevant clinical experience preferred. Active, verifiable license or certification required. TB and IV certifications must be obtained within 60 days if applicable.
