Interim Financial Controller - Charity Sector
Cardiff | Hybrid Working
3-6 Months | Open to Fractional or Full Time
Are you a hands-on Financial Controller with strong strategic insight and a people-first approach? I'm currently working with a fantastic charity based in Cardiff that's looking for interim financial leadership during a key transitional period.
Whether you're looking for 3-4 days a week or full-time, this is a flexible opportunity for the right candidate to make a genuine impact.
The Role
This is a broad, high-impact role requiring someone who's just as comfortable rolling up their sleeves as they are advising senior leadership. You'll lead on budget setting, work closely with teams across the organisation, and bring financial oversight to bid development and funding applications.
It's a perfect fit for someone with charity sector experience, but we're open to those from other mission-driven or complex environments who can demonstrate strong stakeholder and financial management skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead budget setting and planning for the next financial cycle
* Provide strategic support to the CEO and board during a period of change
* Offer hands-on oversight of day-to-day financial operations
* Partner across the organisation as a financial sounding board
* Support funding bids, grants and funder reporting
* Contribute to forecasting, cashflow, and audit prep
* Help build financial confidence across teams - strong interpersonal skills are a must
Who We're Looking For
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Experience in a charity or not-for-profit environment is ideal
* Excellent communicator - a genuine people person
* Able to balance strategic oversight with operational delivery
* Confident working in a standalone or lean finance environment
* Available to start within the next few weeks

* Competitive day rate or FTC salary equivalent
