We are recruiting for seasonal surveyors to join our team for summer bat surveys between
mid-May and mid-September.
Successful candidates will work alongside our team to gain practical ecological field experience and contribute to protected species surveys across the North Yorkshire region.
We are recruiting for two seasonal surveyors who would be available for regular commitment (anticipating four nights a week) and help maintain the survey equipment. We are also recruiting for other surveyors who are available on a more ad-hoc basis.
About the role
The seasonal surveyors will assist our team of licenced ecologists with evening bat surveys.
* Previous experience of bat surveying and ecological work would be advantageous, though not essential as full training is provided.
* Related education/degree/career aspirations are desirable but not essential.
* The right candidates will have a genuine interest in ecology, be reliable and be comfortable working outdoors at night.
* The surveys involve working on evenings and late nights, but not on Fridays or weekends. Surveys are conducted across the whole North Yorkshire region. Excluding travel time, surveys generally last up to 3 hours.
* As with all ecology work, a level of flexibility is required throughout the season, as survey timings are dictated by sunset times, site location and can be impacted by weather conditions.
* We car share where possible but having a full driving licence and access to your own car is essential.
* Rates of pay are over minimum wage and reflect applicants experience and bat licence level.
MAB is a CIEEM registered consultancy and has been running for over 25 years. Our office is in Thirsk, this is the base for the start of every survey.
If you would like to apply for either role, please send a covering letter and CV, along with your availability and location t
