ESN will be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks in the world. and BT is proud to the official supplier providing mission critical and trusted communications for Britain’s Emergency Services. The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and building upon on EE’s existing 4G network and to provide essential new voice, data services, and critical communications services to 300,000 members of frontline emergency service users.
To achieve all of this, it is vital that we are strategically outward looking across our eco-system (BT, our customer and our partners) to assure for the ESN, the Authority and BT. This role will assure our business, horizon mapping and dot joining across our eco system, building strong governance and assurance processes, working closely with the senior leadership team. The role will strategically communicate the future risks we face as a business to executive level and operate appropriate levels of assurance and governance. The Governance and Assurance Senior Manager is at the heart of this assurance activity, working across the ESN ecosystem to keep BT Business safe and enable its objectives, be trusted by customers and connect for good.
The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).
What you’ll be doing
• Strategically defining, implementing, operating, and continuously improving the ESN ‘top risks’ governance model, including leading and owning regular executive assurance reviews
• Leads proactive emerging risk identification across BT Group, Authority and supplier eco system. In instances of control failure/compliance breach, conducts root cause analysis, providing expert advice on mitigation strategies and remediation plans
• Inclusively collaborates and creates partnerships with senior executives and SME’s to gather feedback from partner / customer issues, synthesizing and validating that information to understand business drivers, concerns, and future plans to proactively identify and prioritise top risks
• Owns and delivers exceptional E2E BCM & DR compliance to the BT ESN contractual obligations. Discharges accountability for ESN’s business continuity measures through owning and delivering an assurance programme. Covering BCDR plans, testing and crisis management
• Own the engagement with the Authority and other supplier BCM/DR teams. Lead investigations relating to ESN, coordinating significant investigations and critical event responses with law enforcement and other agencies

What we would like to see on your CV
• Experience in building and executing an ‘future risks’ strategy and governance in government bodies or large corporations
• Extensive experience building collaborative relationships and engaging regularly with senior leaders to define emerging risks across the eco-system, with a close eye on the uncontrollable, joining the dots
• Experience developing and operating internal controls, assurance and mitigation plans
• Significant experience working in, or with, an audit and assurance function
• Experience of developing and implementing a Business Continuity Management framework. Good commercial awareness and understanding of drivers of performance

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
