About the Role
We are seeking a Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing and delivery of materials and components across our operations. This role is key to maintaining production flow, managing supplier relationships, and supporting new product introduction (NPI) through accurate purchasing, inventory control, and adherence to industry standards. You’ll contribute to operational efficiency and compliance by driving procurement best practices and ensuring supply chain reliability.
Typical activities include:
* Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely procurement of goods and accurate data entry.
* Source competitive quotes and evaluate new suppliers for inclusion in the Preferred Supplier List (PSL).
* Monitor and manage key supplier relationships, including performance tracking and contract terms.
* Collaborate with the Production Manager to coordinate supply of components to subcontractors and internal teams.
* Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through proactive material planning and supplier liaison.
* Maintain inventory and asset tracking systems, including license renewals and information asset management.
* Ensure compliance with export control procedures and liaise with freight forwarders for overseas shipments.
* Assist with administrative support across facilities, production, and general business areas.
* Work with the accounts department to resolve procurement-related financial queries.
* Maintain and update procurement policies and procedures in line with ISO and NCSC standards.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a procurement or supply chain role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
* Strong supplier and subcontractor management, including relationship development and performance monitoring.
* Skilled in pricing negotiations and understanding of contract terms (with Commercial Manager support).
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in record-keeping, ordering, and compliance tracking.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and familiarity with procurement and inventory systems such as Jira and Sage.
* Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Knowledge of ISO and NCSC supply chain standards and requirements.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.
* Flexible, proactive, and willing to learn new systems and adapt to evolving business needs.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this position you must:
* Demonstrable experience working in a procurement or supply chain role, with responsibility for managing supplier relationships, placing orders, and coordinating supply to meet production schedules; and
* Be an British citizen; and
* Hold or be eligible for NSV – DV (please see the gov.uk for guidance)
Please Note: This role involves participating in an on-call roster and occasional after-hours work to support business and client requirements. While flexible working hours are supported, you will complete your day to day work on-site.
