We are recruiting a fixed-term role, up to 2 years, for somebody with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
* Develop strategy for our energy sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents as a central part of the role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
Team and Role Context
The Energy & COMAH team is part of the Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation of Environment & Business (E&B) Directorate. Our technical experts lead on the definition of standards for our sectors, providing strategic direction and tools in support of regulation, guidance and training, and environmental best practice.
Experience/Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage diversity in work.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge and experience in the work area of combustion plants and related emissions controls.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
