STRUCTURAL ENGINEER P.ENG. - Morriston, ON
NAC is currently seeking a detailed-focused and motivated Structural Engineer P.Eng. to join our Engineering Department, to be part of a dynamic, growing team of Professional Engineers and designers, working on innovative projects coupled with the opportunity to develop your career. Our Engineering Department offers services for all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-project planning, preliminary design through to detailed and construction. This role entails preparing or revising drawings, specifications, reports and letters in alignment with project requirements, industry standards and engineering best practices.Location: 21 Queen St., Morriston, ON (Hwy 6/Hwy 401)
Position Responsibilities:
4. Work on multiple projects of small to large scale
5. Interact with NAC’s Construction forces and Consultants
6. Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures
7. Interpret and use Geotechnical Reports information
8. Work with team members in determining viable solutions for design issues
9. Work to and meet project time lines and budgets
10. Estimate engineering hours for small projects
11. Coordinate design work with other project team members
12. Preparation and review of technical reports, feasibility studies and project documentation to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
13. Participate in constructability reviews
14. Participate in CAN Engineering quality assurance and quality control process
15. Construction administration including site reviews and investigations
16. Mentoring, coaching and training of less experienced professionals, as required
17. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
18. Seek opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth
Qualifications:
19. General knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
20. General understanding of foundation design (spread footings, mat foundations, building and equipment foundations)
21. General understanding of concrete structure design (support structures for equipment)
22. General knowledge of structural systems, means & methods of construction, and materials (support structures for equipment)
23. General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
24. Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
25. General understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
26. Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software for structural design to perform complex calculations and simulations to prepare engineering documents
27. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD
28. Excellent oral and written communication skills
29. A self-starter who is innovative and enjoys working in a team environment
30. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
31. Strong written and verbal communication abilities
32. Ability to work independently and as part of a Team
33. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
34. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
35. Some travel within Canada may be required
Education and Experience:
36. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering from an accredited University
37. Practicing Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with PEO
38. Minimum of 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in consulting engineering
