Nursery Nurse (7/07197) (Fixed Term)
Location: Cargenbridge Primary School
Salary: £20,625.24 - £22,002.90
Cargenbridge Nursery is seeking a Nursery Nurse to work 27.5 hours per week over 39 weeks per year. This is a fixed-term post to cover maternity leave, starting in July 2025, for up to one year.
The post may be suitable as a secondment. If you are considering applying on a secondment basis, you must obtain approval from your line manager before submitting your application.
Working days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
This post can be combined with the (Wednesday) Depute Nursery Nurse post (DGA12035). Applications are welcome for both positions.
About Cargenbridge Nursery: We cater for pre-school age children and strive to provide an enriching, nurturing environment both indoors and outdoors to promote children's independence and curiosity.
We require someone who can adapt quickly to fulfilling the educational and social needs of pupils in our Nursery and who will play an active role in our staff team. The successful candidate will demonstrate appropriate professional skills, knowledge, and understanding. They should participate in curriculum development within our nursery, following school policies on learning and pupil assessment. Collaboration with staff, colleagues in other establishments, agencies, and regular consultation with parents and carers are essential.
Working hours: Dumfries and Galloway Council's Nursery settings may operate between 8.00am - 6.00pm, and working patterns will be required to meet service needs.
Qualifications: You must hold a relevant qualification enabling registration with the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) as a Practitioner in Day-care of Children's Services (without conditions). All successful applicants will be required to register with the SSSC.
Regulations: This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check before a formal offer of employment.
Applicants previously resident outside the UK within the last 5 years must provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in their country of residence.
SSSC registration or agreement to register within 3 months of appointment is essential.
