We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant to serve your local community and join the Ambulance Service as part of our Ambulance crew based in LEEDS on a bank (0 hour) contract

An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.

What benefits can you expect?

1. £12.21 per hour
2. The flexibility of a bank (0 hour) position - work when suits you to support the needs of the business
3. Uniform provided.

Other duties include:

4. Transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
5. Assisting in the transportation of ‘end of life’ service users, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times
6. Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends
7. Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance
8. Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospital’s or to family/friends at their homes.
9. Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights.
10. Assisting service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses
11. Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy

To be considered as an ACA, you will need to be:

12. Hold a full UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points
13. Committed to patient care
14. An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances
15. To be a calm, considerate, careful driver
16. To have a natural flair for team working and collaboration
17. Be physically fit for patient handling and moving
18. Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded)
19. Familiar with the local and surrounding area
