School Finance Officer
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm
Pay: £17.50 per hour
Location: Fulwood, Preston

Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a partner school in Fulwood, Preston, seeking an experienced and detail-driven School Finance Officer. The successful candidate must have a strong finance background and previous experience working within a school or similar educational setting. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth financial operation of the school and supporting the senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day financial operations in line with school policies and legislative requirements
* Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments
* Monitor budgets and provide regular financial reports to senior leadership
* Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate financial records
* Support payroll processes, including timesheet collation and staffing changes
* Handle petty cash, school fund accounts, and oversee income collection
* Assist with procurement, obtaining quotes, and ensuring best value
* Support year-end financial procedures and audits
* Liaise with suppliers, local authority finance teams, and auditors
* Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR and financial regulations
* Provide administrative support to the wider school office when needed
Essential Requirements
* Experience working within a school or similar education environment
* Solid finance background with knowledge of financial systems and procedures
* Competence in finance software (e.g., SIMS FMS, Arbor, Xero, or similar)
* Strong numeracy and excellent attention to detail
* Effective organisational and time-management skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Desirable Skills
* Understanding of school budget management processes
* Experience supporting audits or year-end financial work
* Familiarity with HR or payroll systems
