Your duties and responsibilities will include: being the Proper Officer responsible for ensuring the council is acting within current regulations guiding councillors on legislation and compliance matters compiling and publishing parish council meeting agendas regular attendance at bi-monthly evening meetings and occasional extra meetings as required minute taking and timely publication of those minutes liaising with stakeholders such as district and county councillors responding to correspondence and emails, placing orders for services agreed by the parish council and handling external communications including press and public relations Maintaining and updating the parish council website as the Responsible Financial Officer, overseeing the administration of the council’s finances, including keeping all accounts, making regular bank reconciliations, completing VAT claims, preparing the council’s budget, year-end accounts, and audit paperwork. You will: be able to demonstrate excellent communication and numeracy skills be able to work independently be competent IT skills including a knowledge of Word and Excel and an ability to post documents on the website hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration or be willing tocommit towards achieving this qualification. The parish consists of some 300 households with an annual precept of approximately £10,500. The parish council currently consists of 5 councillors with 3 vacancies.
