We’re looking for an experienced Senior Subcontract Buyer to join a dynamic procurement team in a highly collaborative, project-driven environment.
This role is based in Luton, with some travel and overnight stays required from time to time, including occasional international travel.
This role will act as the Procurement interface within an Integrated Project Team, supporting complex programmes through effective supplier and sub-contract management. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll work with a wide range of internal stakeholders and suppliers, managing sub-contracts and supporting bidding and business-winning activities.
You’ll need strong Procurement experience, ideally gained within Aerospace, Defence, or a similarly regulated sector, and be confident working successfully within a multi-disciplinary team.
What you’ll be doing
* Providing Procurement input into bids and business-winning activities
* Supporting the implementation of procurement strategy across programmes and wider business areas
* Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to influence successful outcomes
* Translating customer and project requirements into Procurement documentation where required
* Procuring commercial off the shelf (COTS) items to support development projects
* Developing and negotiating contracts for materials and sub-contracts using standard and non-standard formats
* Ensuring contract compliance, promoting innovation, and delivering target driven outcomes
* Identifying and mitigating commercial risk while considering future supply chain resilience
* Ensuring appropriate commercial protections are in place, including NDAs and Export Licences
* Supporting external spend reporting and future spend forecasting
* Managing compliance and governance requirements for procured items
What you’ll bring
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
* A proven track record of delivering tangible procurement outcomes
* Degree-level qualification, equivalent experience, or significant relevant work experience
* MCIPS qualification would be ideal but not essential
* A good understanding of the commercial and legal aspects of contracting within Defence, Aerospace, or a similar sector
* A creative, solutions-focused approach with the ability to add value and drive innovation
