About us:
Our Public Transport Team is part of the Public and Integrated Transport service of the county council's Highways and Transport directorate. The team is responsible for contracted bus service provision and development, information, interchanges and bus stations, concessionary travel and rail developments working with varying partners. This is an exciting time to join Lancashire County Council with an ambitious Bus Service Improvement Plan programme aimed at improving bus services, information and infrastructure through HM Government's Bus Grant.

The role:
Through this new post we are looking for an organised, proactive and enthusiastic person to join our team. Reporting to the Enhanced Partnership Manager, the Project Officer will help to deliver and monitor Lancashire County Council's Bus Service Improvement Plan programme including liaising with other teams within Lancashire County Council and where necessary external organisation, as well as monitoring and reporting on project progress and spend.
The role will be hybrid, based at County Hall Preston, with some requirement to travel to offsite meetings. We are looking for a person who has experience of project management ideally in a transport related context. Good geographical knowledge of Lancashire is preferred. They will be expected to keep up to date with policy developments and changes to legislation, guidance and best practice relating to the Bus Service Improvement Plan project. Excellent information technology and communication skills are a key requirement together with the ability to establish good working relationships.

Key Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Support the development, delivery, management and monitoring of the county council's Bus Service Improvement Plan funding programme.
Assist in monitoring project related budgets, ensuring that expenditures are within approved limits.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Enhanced Partnership Manager
Assist in developing and monitoring KPIs relating to project deliverables and assist in the reporting of outcomes.
Prepare and present project related reports as and when required in a supporting capacity attending relevant committees, boards, technical and commercial groups and partnerships. Where required this maybe deputising for the Enhanced Partnership Manager.
From time to time the post holder will be required to provide support and input into other funding programmes that include public transport elements.
