Work location: Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, Westminster, SW1E 6QP Hours per week: 36 Contract type: Permanent Closing date: 6 July 2025 About Us: THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF INDEPENDENT LIVES Adult Social Care in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where our passionate, caring and committed professionals do brilliant work every day. Mrs D was frail and unwell. Her son was her main carer, but he wasn’t coping. We stepped in to help, but they were hostile to outside agencies. They’d always lived together and were terrified they’d be split up. Our social worker did a great job persuading Mrs D to get hospital treatment and a temporary stay in a care home. In an epic effort throughout COVID, she gained the son’s trust and sorted all the repairs, carers and nurses needed so that Mrs D could come home to live with her son. We also got Mr D regular respite and a personal budget awarded in recognition of him as her carer. After all, there’s nothing more important than living the life you want. As an Executive Support Officer within the ASCH Public Health and Health Partnerships, you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. Working at the centre of bi-borough health teams of both Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea, you will provide high-level executive and administrative support to the Director of Public Health and Director of Health Partnerships and Mental Health. Supporting a wide-ranging portfolio across the two boroughs, you will be responsible for effective diary management, inbox coordination, meeting planning and briefing preparation – ensuring the smooth operation of services and the timely flow of key information to decision makers. Acting as a trusted point of contact, you will also develop and maintain productive working relationships with a wide range of senior officers, Members, consultants, and external organisations. You’ll liaise confidently across departments and boroughs to ensure effective communication, champion joint working and contribute to improved service delivery. As an integral part of a small but effective Executive Support Officer team, you’ll be coordinating activity and covering support as needed to ensure resilience across the directorate. With strong organisational skills and a proactive approach, you’ll contribute to the development of high-quality administrative systems that support a cost-effective and efficient service. You will also support and coordinate corporate projects and events, undertaking research and representing departmental interests on cross-cutting initiatives that reflect the council’s culture and commitment to collaborative working. Working in a fast-paced and complex environment, you will help senior leaders navigate competing demands, manage shifting priorities, and maintain strategic oversight across multiple workstreams. By ensuring clarity, accuracy, and timely delivery of critical information, you’ll play a vital role in shaping high-priority policy areas and enabling improved outcomes for residents. Please refer to the Job Description for more information. About You: You’ll bring experience from a Senior Business Support or Executive Support Officer role, ideally within a Social Care or Public Health setting. With a working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and a strong understanding of the demands of health and care services, you’ll be confident supporting senior leaders in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. You’ll have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to a range of stakeholders. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively with professionals at all levels across the council, as well as with external statutory and voluntary organisations. Highly organised and able to work autonomously under pressure, you will manage competing priorities with confidence and accuracy. Your approach to problem-solving will be practical and solutions-focused, and you will bring a strong attention to detail to all areas of work. You’ll be confident using a wide range of IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office 365, and will be proactive in maintaining and developing business support systems to ensure smooth operations across the Finance and Resources team.
