The role
Within Application Support, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Play a vital role in the submarine and Naval Nuclear sector, delivering onsite first and second line support for critical Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and other bespoke applications. Operating within the Service Desk scope, you'll ensure the performance and reliability of specialist tools that underpin essential operations in a secure, high-stakes environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll Provide frontline application support, liaising directly with customers to resolve software-related issues and ensure seamless system performance.
1. Provide timely resolutions and information to customer-raised issues in collaboration with the Service Management Team.
2. Prioritise and execute tasks effectively to ensure a high standard of service and positive customer outcomes.
3. Deliver exceptional customer service, responding promptly and professionally to queries.
4. Conduct initial and secondary diagnostic and corrective investigations into application-related issues via telephone and email.
5. Log activities and maintain communication with customers to keep them informed of progress and outcomes.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Babcock Technology Centre, requiring candidates to work 7 fixed hours per day, Monday to Friday, within the core operating window of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Flexibility within these hours is essential to support operational needs.
Essential experience: Application Support
6. Technical awareness, ideally from service or software development environments.
7. Proficient in ITSM tools, with experience in incident management.
8. Skilled in Oracle or SQL database administration.
9. Strong analytical thinking and a methodical, solution-focused approach.
10. Passion for software, with a customer-centric mindset and clear communication skills.
Qualifications: Application Support
11. HNC/HND level (or equivalent) education.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
