Overview

Instrument and Control Technician responsible for diagnosis and correction of instrumentation, electronic and control issues related to process and facilities equipment across the site. Responsible for calibration, maintenance, and documentation of maintenance work in compliance with GMP, and for ensuring safe, efficient operation of control systems.


Responsibilities

* Carry out diagnosis and correction of instrumentation, electronic and control issues related to both process and facilities equipment located across the whole site.
* Carry out calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems as per procedural documentation.
* Accountable for maintaining, documenting maintenance work and improving maintenance procedures in compliance with GMP.
* Communicate issues at handover liaising with the shift maintenance, FM and C&I teams.
* Provide feedback on completion of engineering tasks, including root cause and outstanding issues to the owner department.
* Manage backup and recovery of automated control systems including PLCs, Industrial PCs, HMIs.
* Manage critical spare parts ensuring availability of operationally good components and cost-effective supply.
* Support the compilation and completion of validation of new and changes to existing equipment.
* Carry out periodic review and updates of documents to ensure alignment with current working practices.
* Rectification of DSEAR compliance deviations.
* Understand and correctly use the following systems: CMMS, EDMS, BEAMEX, DRAWING DATABASE, MYPIRAMAL, and other site systems for change control, safety, risk assessment and waste handling.
* Provide and implement ideas to improve efficiency, reduce cost, or improve safety of the operation.
* 1:1 training of apprentices, co-workers, and other stakeholders; supervision of contractors when required.
* Keep all work areas tidy.


Key Responsibilities

* Effectively communicate any issues at handover liaising with the shift maintenance, FM and C&I teams.
* On completion of engineering tasks, provide work status, including root cause and outstanding issues to the owner department.
* Manage backup and recovery of automated control systems including PLCs, Industrial PCs, HMIs.
* Manage critical spare parts ensuring availability of operationally good components and cost-effective supply.
* Support in the compilation and completion of validation of new and changes to existing equipment.
* Carry out periodic review and updates of documents to stay current with practices.
* Rectification of DSEAR compliance deviations.
* Understand and use CMMS, EDMS, BEAMEX, DRAWING DATABASE, MYPIRAMAL and related site systems.
* Microsoft Office for general administrative tasks.
* 1:1 training of apprentices, co-workers, and other stakeholders; supervision of contractors when required.
* Keep all work areas tidy.


Critical Tasks

* Work in a safe manner to avoid endangering yourself, others or plant equipment.
* Follow safe isolation procedures, LOTO, voltage checks.
* Participate in ESH tours and risk assessments as required; raise ESH issues as appropriate.
* Attend all mandatory training.


Critical Skills

* Possess competencies to assemble, install, perform preventative maintenance, repair, diagnose faults and service instrumentation and control systems and components.
* Understand relevant regulatory and safety requirements and duties, including reporting lines and procedures.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards and equipment manuals; follow work instructions and plans.
* Identify appropriate tools and techniques; follow training, methods, quality control and safety procedures.
* Identify defects and testing anomalies and know appropriate actions.
* Ability to handle digital information and use technology to support tasks and communication.
