Laleham Gap is a Communication and Interaction Special School. We have pupils aged from 4 to 18 years. Most of our pupils have a diagnosis of Autism. All pupils have an EHCP. Most pupils will achieve some GCSEs or equivalent at age 16. Laleham Gap is a well-resourced environment with a high-quality setting and an experienced, motivated team.

Job Description: Teacher of Science
Purpose of the Job:
To demonstrate knowledge of how pupils learn and support this through effective teaching that promotes good or better learning outcomes for all pupils.
To be responsible for the education and welfare of children, adhering to the School Teachers Pay and Conditions document, the National Curriculum, school policies, and Teachers Standards.
Key duties and responsibilities:
* Plan and implement appropriate work programmes for children, including extracurricular activities in collaboration with colleagues and external providers. Develop a curriculum tailored to pupils' diverse needs.
* Co-produce planned outcomes for pupils, involving EHCP processes, and collaborate with therapy teams, families, and external agencies.
* Maintain high expectations for each pupil, matching learning experiences to their individual needs.
* Provide educational opportunities for all children, including conducting reviews of EHCPs and progression plans.
* Encourage independence and self-management in learning.
* Create a secure, safe, stimulating, and well-organized learning environment, fostering mutual respect and self-esteem.
* Ensure resources are accessible, well-maintained, and promote responsibility for learning.
* Work with colleagues on planning and implementing schemes of work.
* Assess progress, maintain records, and report to parents and carers as per school policies.
* Communicate with parents, carers, and outside agencies regarding children's progress.
* Promote school aims and equal opportunities in daily practice.
* Engage in continuous professional development through reading, courses, and training.
* Perform duties as a form/class teacher, support lunchtime and break activities, run clubs, and support pupils and families proactively.
* Undertake other relevant duties as needed, as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.
