Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Therapies team in the Integrated Care Directorate at Velindre Cancer Centre on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week).

The Highly Specialist Upper Gastrointestinal Dietitian will work alongside the Dietetic team and the Upper Gastrointestinal multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high quality service to their patient population. This will include working within the outpatient and multi-disciplinary clinic setting, in addition to ambulatory care and inpatients. The post holder will be responsible for the configuration of dietetic service provision for the upper-gastrointestinal population served by Velindre Cancer Centre. Alongside their clinical duties, the successful candidate will undertake service development, quality improvement projects and audit. They will also be responsible for undertaking teaching of other health care professionals and supervision of other Dietitians and undergraduate students.


Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual who is an adaptive team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Experience of working as a Dietitian in adult dietetic services at a senior level, experience relevant to upper gastro-intestinal cancer services, along with experience of working as a member of a specialist multi-disciplinary team, is a requirement of this post. The successful candidate will need to be able to manage a complex clinical caseload, have excellent time management and prioritisation skills along with audit and research skills.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

* Degree, or equivalent, or post graduate qualification in dietetics
* MSc qualification or equivalent experience
* Evidence of current HCPC registration
* Member of a relevant specialist interest group


Experience

* Previous considerable clinical experience relevant to upper gastro-intestinal cancer services
* Experience as working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team
* Experience of audit and service development
* Experience of staff / service management


Aptitude and abilities

* Ability to demonstrate specialist skills within the field of upper gastro-intestinal cancer
* Ability to manage a clinical caseload, clinical analytical skills
* Ability to communicate with healthcare professional and the public
* Ability to speak Welsh
