Overview
As a Medical & Dental Servicing Section (MDSS) Equipment Engineer, you will inspect, install, service, repair and carry out Electrical Safety Testing of all types of medical, dental, and veterinary equipment for air, land and maritime whilst working predominantly at customer's sites. In this position, you will respond to equipment failures and urgent service requests at MOD sites within your area while adhering to operational protocols and procedures, escalating any instances of non-adherence. The role requires the ability to work independently, diagnose faults, and make well-informed technical decisions. Customer-centric approach and strong communication skills are crucial for interaction with Practice Managers and staff. Basic IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel are advantageous. You will be equipped with a work van for transportation, along with a fuel card. Upon commencement, you will undergo a comprehensive, fully funded 4-week residential training course. These positions are advertised at 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:00–16:30, Friday 8:00–13:00.
Responsibilities
* Perform self-directed testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment down to module/individual component level using approved engineering documentation and techniques.
* Hold self-certification; over-signing; certifying and conditioning of equipment responsibilities (e.g., serviceable/unserviceable/scrap).
* Use a combination of different MOD IT software.
* Provide specialist advice as required.
* Work within a scheme of engineering governance and comply with all policy and legislation.
* Attend more frequently initially to familiarise with site, team and role as required by business needs.
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification in electrical/electronic engineering and some electrical engineering experience within the discipline or specialist area.
* Full UK driving licence.
* MoD biomedical engineering certificate as required by JSP 473 or willingness to attend a 4-week fully paid residential course upon appointment (currently MoD Lyneham).
* Security clearance: eligibility to obtain SC clearance; length of process and contingencies described.

Compensation and Benefits
* Salary: £30,500 (plus generous benefits). The MoD contributes £8,835 towards Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension.
* Requires UK residence for the last 5 years and obtaining Security Check (SC) clearance; conditional offers may be withdrawn if clearance is not obtained within 12 months.
