The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team that works and learns together.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 businesses with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
* National Markets: We collaborate across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds investing in key sectors to grow local economies.
The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn. We focus on helping clients understand tax issues and structure transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving multiple countries and taxes.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice
* Support in pursuing new opportunities through proposals and pitches
* Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory
* Act as a key point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
* Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlighting key issues and their commercial impact
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
* Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a commercial approach
* Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, and proactive
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Leadership and coaching abilities
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
