Parkway Medical Group are seeking a Locum GP for 2 sessions per week on a Thursday to cover maternity leave from end of June 2026 to January 2027
A Morning session consists of 12 x 15 minute F2F appointments, an afternoon session consistsof 12 x 15 minute F2F appointments. Each session has admin time for tasks,scripts and 2 home visits

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage a caseload and dealwith a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring thehighest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Inaccordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makehim/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage, visiting patientsat home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Making professional,autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referredor referred from other health care workers within the organisation. Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems. Completion of clinically related administrative and non clinicalduties need for the delivery of the service. Refer patients for furtheropinions and interventions according to practice protocols. Recording clear andcontemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeatprescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) using EPS as first option. Prescribing in accordance within the prescribingformulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Our list size is just over 8350 patients and iscurrently managed by 3 GP partners with 5 salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA. We have an excellent administrative support team. Weare high QOF achievers and we are actively engaged in our local PCN.
Our practice has worked closely for some years with5 other local practices as part of a Primary Care Network. This provides theadditional Services for a First Contact Physio, First Contact Mental Health Worker, DieticianServices, Social Prescribers, Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians

Clinical Responsibilities:
* In accordance with thePractice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-selfavailable to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage, visitingpatients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealingwith queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
* Respond to medicalproblems presented by temporary residents as required
* Making professional,autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation
* Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Screening patients fordisease risk factors and early signs of illness
* In consultation withpatients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols,developing care plans for health
* To assist in theestablishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medicalconditions e.g. asthma, COPD
* Completion ofclinically related administrative and non clinical duties need for thedelivery of the service
* Providing counsellingand health education
* Refer patients forfurther opinions and interventions according to practice protocols

Maintaining, Monitoring & Updating ComputerDatabase and Management of Medical Records & Practice Audits
* Ensure that practiceclinical database is updated promptly and accurately with informationrelating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy
* and for practicerecording requirements under IM&T protocols, QOF and enhanced services
* Respond to alerts onrecords
* Appropriate use ofSNOMED codes
* Participating in thecollection and collation of statistics towards the preparation of practicereports, performance monitoring and audits
* Participation in theauditing of Practice activity

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified GP MRCGP
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
* Full GMC Registration
* National Performers List Registration
* Appropriate Defence Indemnity
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Knowledge of Quality Outcome Framework (QOF)
