BETSI CADWALADR UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD
This is a fixed-term secondment for 12 months. The Specialist Behavioural Support Service (SBSS) works with children and adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours across BCUHB and the six local authority areas of North Wales.
Main Duties
* The post holder will perform a number of tasks to increase the effectiveness of services for people with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge through proactive strategies including
* The early identification and prevention of behaviours that challenge
* The prevention and management of crises related to behaviours that challenge and maintaining service users close to home
* Delivering Positive Behaviour Support approaches to work effectively with people with behaviours that challenge
* The post holder will provide clinical leadership and management of staff
* The role includes the setting and maintaining of clinical standards within the governance framework, and the motivation and leadership of team members in reaching specific Key Performance Indicators as determined by the Community Service Manager
Qualifications
* Registered Learning Disability Nurse
* Hold an MSc in Positive Behavioural Support / Applied Behaviour Analysis or other relevant MSc in the field of Learning Disability / Autism / Behaviour
* Have relevant experience and skills of effective leadership and management
* Evidence of relevant CPD
Knowledge
* Have specialist skills in working with people with learning disabilities who present with behaviours that challenge
* Must be capable of organising systematic data collection, critically analysing, synthesising and interpreting data, formulating and implementing creative intervention plans
* Have excellent organisational skills
* Must be able to motivate staff and carers, to teach skills and transfer knowledge, and to model appropriate skills and behaviour
* Must have good presentation skills and be able to use presentation equipment
* Must be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
Desirable Criteria
* Have experience of delivering restraint reduction training
* The ability to speak Welsh
Experience
* Skilled Practitioner embracing clinical governance and clinical effectiveness
* Significant relevant post registration experience including management experience
* Experience in research and development
* Experience of multi-agency working
* Have good experience of working with people with learning disabilities with behaviours that challenge
