Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager UK and a key member of the SHEQ Senior Management Team, the SHEQ Manager leads and promotes a culture prioritizing health, safety, and environmental responsibility. This role involves strategic and hands-on activities to foster safety and environmental awareness, develop risk management systems, and monitor safety, health, and environmental performance with the goal of zero injuries and environmental protection.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement strategic SHEQ plans to enhance health, safety, and environmental performance.
2. Align plans with contract requirements, legislation, and business objectives.
3. Support and coach the SHEQ team and collaborate with operational leaders.
4. Manage SHEQ coordinators, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and effective.
5. Ensure SHEQ procedures are understood and compliant across the business.
6. Implement safety and environmental policies, including training programs.
7. Prepare environmental documents like fire prevention and management systems.
8. Research industry developments and propose value-adding initiatives.
9. Conduct audits and reviews to maintain high service levels.
10. Ensure proper incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions.
11. Communicate lessons learned and safety updates across the organization.
12. Facilitate monthly governance meetings and report on SHEQ performance.
13. Promote company values and develop relationships with operational leaders.
14. Monitor external developments, participate in industry forums, and implement best practices.
15. Foster innovation within SHEQ.
Training/Qualifications
1. Experience leading SHEQ culture transformation in multi-location, technical, and operational settings.
2. NEBOSH General Certificate qualification.
3. Willingness to pursue NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
4. WAMITAB Level 4 in Waste Management and understanding of ISO standards with auditing experience.
5. Experience developing SHEQ KPIs and engaging with regulatory bodies.
6. Financial literacy, effective communication, decision-making, and presentation skills.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a full driving license.
Salary
Circa £48K plus car or car allowance, 24 days plus bank holidays.
