Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly skilled Cardiac Physiologist to lead the Non-Invasive Cardiac Physiology service across Wimpole Street Specialist Care and the Royal Brompton Hospital Private Consulting Rooms. The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership and be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, strategic development and delivery of a high-quality non-invasive diagnostic service.
The Lead Cardiac Physiologist will oversee workforce planning, service improvement, governance and quality assurance, ensuring a safe, efficient and patient-centred service that reflects the standards and values of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The role requires advanced technical expertise across the full range of non-invasive cardiac investigations, as well as strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
The post holder will work collaboratively with consultant cardiologists, senior physiologists, private patient services, finance, marketing and business development teams to support ongoing service growth, innovation and an excellent private care patient experience. This senior role provides a key opportunity to influence the ongoing development of a premium cardiac diagnostic service.
Main Duties
* Provide overall technical and clinical leadership for all non-invasive cardiac investigations, ensuring consistent high-quality diagnostic outputs and timely reporting.
* Lead the operational delivery of the non-invasive service across Wimpole Street and Royal Brompton private consulting rooms, ensuring safe, effective and efficient day-to-day workflow.
* Perform and oversee advanced non-invasive procedures including Holter/event analysis, ETT, CPET, ILR follow-up, and pacemaker/ICD/CRTD remote and in-person monitoring.
* Lead on staff training, supervision, competency assessment, CPD and performance management for the non-invasive physiology team.
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies, clinical governance requirements, CQC standards and statutory regulations.
* Oversee equipment maintenance, service contracts, safety checks and liaison with Clinical Engineering.
* Lead or support investigations into incidents, complaints and patient concerns, implementing improvement plans where required.
* Contribute to business planning, financial management, and achievement of departmental financial targets and cost‑improvement initiatives.
* Maintain awareness of competitor service offerings and contribute to commercial development of the private cardiac diagnostic service.
* Work collaboratively with consultants, administrative teams and multidisciplinary colleagues to support the smooth and efficient running of private patient pathways.

Person Specification – Skills & Abilities (Essential)
* Strong leadership and team‑management skills with ability to coordinate daily operations
* Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills; competent with EPIC, Pacenet and similar systems
Experience & Knowledge (Essential)
* Experience supervising/mentoring staff & strong understanding of governance, safety standards, and quality assurance
* Significant experience performing a wide range of non-invasive cardiac investigations, including Holter/Event monitoring and analysis, Exercise Tolerance Testing (ETT), and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET).
* Independent follow‑up and management of cardiac rhythm devices, including Pacemakers (PPM), Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD), Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy devices (CRT‑P/D), and Implantable Loop Recorders (ILR), including remote monitoring.
Desirable
* Experience with private patient pathways, budgeting/resource planning, or service development
* BHRS/IBHRE accreditation or working towards this
Qualifications & Professional Registration (Essential)
* Recognised BSc in Cardiac Physiology (PTP/STP or equivalent) and HCPC/RCCP registration
* Immediate Life Support (ILS/PILS/EPLS) certification & evidence of ongoing
