The role
We’re hiring: Multilingual Community Counsellors
WC is looking for qualified Multilingual Community Counsellors to support adults across Birmingham and Solihull. We are especially interested in counsellors who speak English and at least one additional community language, particularly Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic, Somali, Bengali, Hindi or other languages commonly spoken across Birmingham and Solihull.
This role is ideal for counsellors who can provide short term, trauma informed and culturally appropriate support to adults experiencing mild to moderate emotional distress. We are especially interested in counsellors who speak English and at least one additional community language.
The role will include:
- Delivering 1 to 1 and/or group counselling sessions
- Supporting adults with emotional wellbeing needs
- Completing assessments, risk assessments and safety planning
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Following safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
- Attending clinical supervision and reflective practice
- Supporting safe, ethical and professional counselling delivery
We are looking for someone with:
- Level 4 Diploma or higher in Counselling or Psychotherapy
- BACP, UKCP or equivalent registration
- Minimum 1 year post qualification experience, or current placement experience with suitable completed hours
- Experience supporting adults with mild to moderate emotional distress
- Fluency in English and at least one additional language
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, boundaries and record keeping
- A trauma informed and culturally sensitive approach
Desirable, but not essential:
- Clinical supervision experience or a clinical supervision qualification
- Group therapy experience
- Experience working with Global Majority communities
- Community or primary care mental health experience
- Experience supporting migrants, refugees or people whose first language is not English
Location: Birmingham and Solihull (community based locations, hybrid delivery)
Contract: Fixed term, 2 years (subject to ongoing funding)
DBS: Enhanced DBS required
