Conflicts & New Business Team Leader – International Law Firm

We are working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Conflicts & New Business Team Leader for their London office. The Role
This is a handson operational leadership position, responsible for managing a Londonbased team of Conflicts and AML Analysts, along with a New Business Team Administrator. Working closely with colleagues across the UK and EU, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of new business intake, conflicts clearance, and AML processes.
Reporting to the Director of Conflicts, AML & Compliance (Europe & Middle East), you will act as a trusted escalation point, maintain high service standards, and ensure consistent policy application across client and matter intake. The role sits in a fastpaced, servicedriven environment where excellent judgement, responsiveness, and strong stakeholder management skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
* Supervise a team of Analysts and an Administrator, setting clear daily/weekly objectives
* Allocate and prioritise workloads to ensure timely delivery of conflicts checks, AML reviews, and matter openings
* Provide daytoday coaching and guidance on conflicts and AML policies
* Review output for accuracy and escalate issues appropriately
* Conduct regular 1:1s, support performance evaluations, and contribute to hiring and onboarding
* Foster a collaborative and professional team environment
Delivery of Conflicts, AML & New Business Services
* Remain handson with live matters, especially where judgement or urgency is required
* Oversee and conduct conflicts searches, reviewing results and managing escalations
* Liaise with partners to obtain accurate instructions and manage conflict waivers
* Review and conduct AML due diligence and risk assessments
* Manage new business forms, ensuring compliance and resolving queries efficiently
Stakeholder Engagement & CrossFunctional Collaboration
* Explain policies clearly to partners and internal stakeholders
* Challenge requests that fall outside firm policy where necessary
* Work closely with adjacent teams to resolve operational issues
* Support training and contribute to departmental projects and policy improvements
Candidate Profile
Experience
* Degree or equivalent qualification
* Minimum three years’ experience in conflicts, compliance, or new business intake
* Previous supervisory or teamleader experience (ideally within an international law firm)
* Working knowledge of conflicts systems (e.g., Intapp) and compliance screening tools
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
