The Opportunity A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team supporting nuclear infrastructure projects. This is a hybrid role involving remote work and site visits with a home office in Glasgow, contributing to the safety and reliability of key defence assets.
We would also welcome applications from these industries: oil & gas, marine, defence, energy, and heavy industrial.
This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Mechanical Design Engineer, Safety Case Engineer, Systems Engineer, Plant Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Nuclear Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Project Engineer, or Engineering Consultant.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Lead and assess design changes and concessions to ensure compliance and safety.
Present technical substantiations to internal safety review committees.
Create and manage inspection and maintenance schedules aligned with safety case requirements.
Contribute to periodic safety reviews and performance evaluations.
Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Define scopes for independent technical assessments and peer reviews.
Apply engineering principles to support lifecycle activities in high-risk environments.
Produce technical justifications for mechanical design modifications.
Review and validate technical reports and calculations from contractors and colleagues.You will have the following qualifications and experience
Proven experience with industrial mechanical systems such as pumps and generators.
Strong knowledge of UK and EU design standards and engineering practices.
Background in concept through to construction stages of engineering projects, ideally in industrial or maritime sectors.
Experience producing safety-related documentation and justifications in regulated environments.
Minimum HNC in a relevant discipline and Incorporated Engineer status or equivalentGet in touch now
