Job overview
The cardiothoracic surgical team at Royal Stoke University Hospital provides coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve surgery, aortic surgery, and lung surgery, and receives patients with chest trauma as part of the regional Trauma Centre status. This role is a Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker within Cardiothoracic Critical Care.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Clinical Support Worker, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse and perform activities such as:
* Setting up ventilators
* Removing chest drains
* Processing blood gas samples
* Liaising with blood bank
* Assisting with patient admissions from theatre and transfers to the ward
Qualifications
* Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent); IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/Speaking/Reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
* Care Certificate or completion within 12 weeks of commencing employment
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willingness to complete if successful (voluntary for applicants with 3 years or more care experience)
